From Ultimate Ultimate 1995 to UFC 20, matches were set to a time limit (between 12 to 30 minutes), with judges scoring the match. The current format of two, three, or five rounds of five minutes each was implemented in UFC 21.

The UFC’s 2019 contract with Disney+ mandates a subscription to the over-the-top service which is the exclusive distributor of UFC pay-per-views in the United States in order to purchase the event. UFC and Disney do not report on pay-per-view buys starting with UFC 236.
